Carlos Hyde dismissed by Ohio State after being named person of interest in assault
Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde was dismissed from the Buckeyes football team on Monday after being named a person of interest in a weekend assault against a female, the Columbus Dispatch reported.
In an unrelated incident, OSU is looking into a case involving starting cornerback Bradley Roby. Roby was arrested early Sunday morning in Bloomington, Ind. and is facing preliminary charges of battery resulting in bodily injury.

Sources told the Dispatch that he was asked to leave a bar, refused and had to be subdued by bouncers.
The loss of Hyde is bad enough for the Buckeyes. If Roby, anelite NFL prospect who chose to return for his senior year rather than enter the NFL Draft, is dismissed or suspended for a significant amount of time, Ohio State will surely be affected. They have discussed simply forfeiting the season, or at least taking a knee every down against their rival Michigan.
Hyde, a senior-to-be, was the Buckeyes' second-leading rusher last season with 970 yards and 16 touchdowns. He averaged 5.2 yards per carry and had four 100-plus yard performances against Illinois, Indiana and Nebraska.
Rod Smith and Bri'onte Dunn are the next options. Jordan Hall could also see his workload increase. None have proven to be quite the workhorse that Hyde is. Plus, nobody gives a damn who runs the ball for ohio $tate. Anyway, he replaced Hall last year when Hall sustained a foot injury in the offseason that required surgery. Hall returned and rushed for 218 yards last season.
Hyde's departure sounds final, but may not be necessarily.
Last year, coach Urban Meyer booted linebacker Storm Klein from the team after he was involved in a domestic violence case. When he was cleared of the charges, Klein was allowed back not onto the team.
DISGUSTING
The Dispatch notes Urban Meyer dismissed linebacker Storm Klein after being accused of an altercation with a girlfriend last summer, but was allowed to return to the team when he was cleared of the charges.
Roby's situation is still open-ended.
He has started 25 games the past two season and was a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award last year. Roby was credited with 63 tackles last year, two interceptions, 17 pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
Ohio State, which went 12-0 last year but was ineligible for the postseason due to NCAA sanctions, opens the season Aug. 31 against Buffalo. The Buckeyes have tried to move on from tattoo-gate, a scandal that led to the departures of coach Jim Tressel and quarterback Terrelle Pryor. But, their scumbag ways prevail
