That was a poor message the Dems tried to push. I'd never heard Ayala call herself an Afro Latina before she ran for the Lt Gov seat, and she lives in my area. Meanwhile, Sears is a Black woman with a Black family. I disagree with her politics, and time will reveal that her politics are horrible lol. Respectfully, her folks came to the US after the Civil Rights Movement was over and she was probably indoctrinated while she was in the military. She has no idea what black folks were going through from the end of the Civil War up until a few years before she came over here. Just me but I don't consider every black conservative a c00n. Most of them are, but not all.

Virginia governor apologizes for 'racist and offensive' costume in photo showing people in blackface and KKK garb

(CNN)Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam confirmed Friday he was in a racist yearbook photo showing one person dressed in blackface and another in the KKK's signature white hood and robes, and apologized for "the decision I made to appear as I did in this photo and for the hurt that decision caused then and now."

The photograph, which was obtained by CNN, appears in the 1984 yearbook for Eastern Virginia Medical School. Northam did not say whether he was wearing the KKK outfit or blackface.
