Not gonna diss the program but I threw JW's in the bushes years ago admittedly they attempt to follow the bible word word (kinda) but they were experts at making the bible fit whatever narrative the elders wanted.

For the record I met some good folks however the shunning amongst other things were serious red flags, pity as the elder in charge of the area I resided in at the time and I used to have some deep conversations, albeit he was under the impression he was at my abode to teach me, whereas I had to inform him that education like communication is a two way street he didn't like that obviously, man I've got stories from dealing with the JW's they are a cult make no mistake about that, just not as loony as the Mormons who I also have a story or two about but I'll chill on that.

It wasn't just 1975 that that cult organization gave out a false prophecy. From it's inception it was multiple false prophecies that never came to past. Look up their 1914 prophecy, 1918 prophecy, 1925 etc. It's a bunch actually that never were fulfilled.
When they knocked on the door that would be one of the first things I bring up than pull out the bible verses Deuteronomy 18:22 and Matthew 7:15.
"When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

I also would get into the white prophets and messengers they had in their pamphlets. And go to verse that depicted them as people of color. Rev 1: 12-15, Dan 7:9, and Jere 14:2 kjv. Because that was a big deal being raised AME.

They also teach Christ didn't rise in the flesh but if you read Luke 24:39 he showed his flesh and he was recognized.

Oh and the JWs teach that christ was the Archangel Michael. Which conflicts because you're told not to worship angels. And In the gospel you can see christ being worshipped.

They predicted the end of the world like 4 times, most recently in 1975, shun anyone who tries to leave, will let kids die before they give them blood transfusions, they're a cult. I know was because I was raised in it. You're not gonna learn anything. To piggyback off this post, they also believe anyone who isn't a witness will die at Armageddon - they also claim to be the "one true religion". So if one was raised in it (I was), you can recognize the effects of fear mongering and the bullshyt when one finally wakes up.
