Putin’s time in the KGB is actually not some big mystery. He was mostly involved in controlling “dark money” for the Soviet Union, basically money laundering schemes which involved trafficking weapons for cash or using “dark money” to fund communist insurgents throughout Africa, South America and Asia.

Read this book. It goes into great detail into how Putin rose through the ranks as a “low level” KGB spy to an “advisor” of the mayor of St Petersburg to being “selected” and the. taking control of the Oligarchs and the creation of his “silovik”
