if its that close, then you should vote for pharaohe.

cuz remember, wutang fans set the rules when they said that the 1st run of wu solos were group albums. therefor, cuban linx doesnt count in this tournament.

i still gave the wu-members the seeds that i was gonna give em regardless, but when it comes to the head-to-head, im dockin points off.

with that said, i wouldve voted raekwon easily, but im not sure if i can vote him over pharaohe WITHOUT cuban links. on the other hand, pharaohe doesnt have much of a solo catalog.

:patrice: im stuck on this one.
No. Don't move the goalposts.
When we were talking about classic solo albums they released you wanted us to just ignore the classic posse tracks like they didn't exist.

i didnt move the goal-posts.

wutang stans ALREADY MOVED THEM in the last tournament. and they themselves agreed not to count that 1st run of solos for this tournament.

you need to address them. NOT ME. and dudes were counting full albums. yall want it to be one way.

If we're comparing two groups and you want people to ignore solo output.. Some of which is classic.. Some of which contains classic posse cuts involving said group..

That might be because the organizer of the contest wanted to see the group with no solo output to speak of win the contest.

Big over Mega was easy. Always liked Mega but Big was one of the best ever period.

Went with Coke la Rock cuz I like his name better :manny: they both old school as fukk

Never was a fan of Jeezy or Soulja Slim but Jeezy has had more tracks I fukk with

Jada over Lauryn was tough but went with him cuz he's had so many bars over the years and Lauryn's run was so short. I feel like she left a lot on the table. He debut was better than anything Jada could ever think of doing.

Luda over Mase was a no brainer to me. Mase had bars but his run was short. Luda had a run from the early to late 2000s where he was one of the best lyrical and commercial MCs out. Luda had lyrics and hits and is from a region where lyrical nikkas don't see that kind of success

Took G Rap over Mos. Mos never lived up to his potential. Black on Both Sides is a classic but his shyt got too weird. G Rap been the same nikka for almost 30 years and I haven't heard a weak verse yet

Em is miles ahead of Juelz imo. Juelz is nice but I never thought his albums were all that. Em is prolly the most technically gifted rapper ever. His word play is ridiculous

Rae vs Monch was the toughest one for me. I went with Rae tho just cuz I like the music better overall

no. its just lame & corny. and if you want to be real, wutang stans banned together and counted all that solo chit in the group tournament because they know they have no chance in hell of any wu members winning this tournament. thats why they said 'its cool, dont count it for the solo tournament.'

those possee cuts consisted of what? 2 or 3 members? and i bet youre counting those same posse cuts for this tournament as well.

and people were counting entire albums in the mobb deep/nwa/tribe/bone thugs battles. dudes were voting for wu off the strength of ob4cl, ironman, etc. and now yall want to turn around and use the same exact material in this thread, ignoring the fact that there are 2 seperate tournaments for solo & group releases.

yall need to stop pandering to white folks and quit with this "technical skills" stuff. theres way more to technical skills than just lyrics. and eminem is LACKING badly.

My whole thing is If we are comparing two groups then I'd want to do it collectively. I know liquid swords is a solo album. But he's in the group. And if you wanna get rid of Liquid swords we have to ignore shadowboxing and wu banga 101 too?

I think this is a really cool thing you're doing and know it can't be perfect

LOL come on man aint nobody pandering to white folks. With Em almost every damn syllable rhymes. The fact that he can do that at the speed he does it with the breath control and the fact you can understand every word is crazy. He has some classic joints too I just think sometimes the songs are boring as fukk. Juelz just aint in his league

Big
Spoonie
Jeezy
Kiss
Ma$e
G Rap
Eminem
Raekwon

Pharoah, Mos and Mega should have had higher seeds. I would have picked them over #7-13. Jeezy too. And Em.

why didnt you just say #5-13??

ehh. the list was based off of artistic output, along with impact, influence, etc. not just who has the best lyrics.

i think pharaohe monche is like a top 5 lyricist ever, and pound for pound, one of the greatest emcees. but musically, i never heard an LP from him that knocked my socks off. and he doesnt have much solo material. his only relevant album is extinct too, altho thats not his fault.

mos def is overrated. "black on both sides" is half-tacky. i know blackstarr was moreso a collabo/super-group album, but they shouldve went full-time with that. being a duo really hid their short-comings.

cormega is my man and all, but that nicca to this day, has yet to find a flow.

his voice is awful.
his flow has usually been trash for over a decade now. and before that his flow was generic backpack chit.
he has no real rhythm and struggles on beats that arent catered to him.
he has no soul in his chit.

i could go on.

all this applies to technical skills. not just "all his syllables rhyme". maybe you should just call him a great technical WRITER.

and im not saying that youre personally pandering to white folks, but the people that yall are repeating this stuff from are. in fact, the people that started this trendy internet statement are white.

shadow-boxing had what? 2 members in it?

i would credit all of this to gza's solo legacy, but yall didnt want to do that when yall were casting those struggle-votes in the group tournament.
