I don't care how nice the mixtapes are. When the albums drops how good is it? That's the reason people like Jada wont go far in this tournament

btw, i'll take jada's albums over alot of the albums yall gas up on here.

didnt you just call that mos def album a classic?:scust:

I realize its like that now but Jada and Juelz are both from different eras. Those dudes especially Jada know the value of albums. Jada has no excuse. Bar for bar he's the best member of the Lox but has the wackest albums. This tournament is to crown the GOAT and the ones who are gonna go far are the ones who have the best albums at the end of the day.

ehh. juelz had his 1st deal before the lox dropped an album.

besides, nobody is droppin classic albums anymore. i havnt heard a legit classic album since 2003. too much label tampering. then we got to the point where the real hot niccas couldnt get albums out. now we're at the point where they cant even get deals, and they expect us to get hype over these corny dudes. thats why mixtapes have since become the gold standard. and its gonna stay that way for the forseeable future.

its not about "importance". like i said, its about you practicing what you preached in that wutang thread. remember that song & dance you gave about not letting the white man dictate hip-hop? well it didnt even apply to your argument there. and you havnt followed your own words at all whenever that argument was legitimately appropriate. youve been doing the opposite actually. you were just gaming.

I meant they are both from a different era than the current mixtape era. They both came up in an era where the album was still important

But the best rappers still drop albums tho. Em has had better albums than Juelz. Em is a rappers rapper. Most of the top dudes name him as one of the best for a reason. Juelz wouldn't wanna battle that dude. Its not like Em aint from Detroit too. That city has some of the best MCs pound for pound.

As far was the Wu goes my whole thing about not letting the white man dictate was about the business aspect of it. The Wu created their own rules

no they hell the best rappers do not drop albums. and nowadays, the best rappers dont even have deals.

most of what top dudes name eminem as the best? the dudes that are still around cuz of politics? most industry cosigns are manufactured anyway. come on dog. chris rock just put kanye in his top 5 cuz he got money in his new movie. BE SMART SON.

eminem lost to jarule. and detroit is a cypher city(altho that seems to be changing). nobody cares about any of them dudes musically. eminem included.

juelz' albums are just as good as eminem's. and juelz' mixtapes are better than eminem's chit.

no. the wutang thing was just you reaching for straws and throwing the white man card out of convenience. i read your whole playbook at this point chief keef.

Black on Both Sides was a classic. Mos went in on that album. Theres one maybe 2 songs Ill skip but he did his thing. Ill tell you what its better than anything JR Writers ever done

like half that album is skippable. too many bad beats, wack hooks, and alot of overall tacky stuff on there. its a dissappointing album in my book. i dont lower the curve for the backpack & incent rappers.

lets be reality, its a cult classic for people that are deeply entrenched in that type chit.

writer's block 1 alone is better than mos def's discog.

thats a very vague question. thats like asking somebody what are all the classic albums from the '80s & '90s, and expecting a list out the blue.

hit me up on the PMs and i can start getting you caught up. you basically missed out on hip-hop the past decade breh.

@mobbinfms if mobb deep came out within the past decade, 95% of their music would be on mixtapes.

@BmoreGorilla same thing goes for wutang. and seeing that rza was so business-minded, they prolly wouldnt even have a deal.

If your sending music you can link me up too man.

i wasnt sending. i was just gonna suggest stuff. i didnt want to derail the thread with it tho.

im under the impression that youtube carries most of this stuff.

I think you're saying that mixtapes are where the action is at. That every prominent artist since 2003 had a mixtape that is easily better than any album they've dropped. So I'm looking for that classic mixtape for each artist. And you should have an idea of what I'm looking for by now - start with the mixtapes that you think would be up my alley.

I will say this - one classic mixtape I can think of is Return of the Mac by Prodigy - but that shyt was so good - they put it out as an album.
