Supreme Court judge Bryan Sykes has turned down the application to accept two witness statements at the murder trial of dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel.

Justice Sykes handed down his ruling a short while ago.

He said he was not convinced that the prosecution took enough steps to locate the witnesses.

Justice Sykes says the jury will now be directed to return a formal verdict of not guilty.

The 12-member jury is to return to the Home Circuit Court tomorrow.

This now means that Kartel, whose given name is Adidja Palmer, will be acquitted.

He and Lenburgh McDonald and Nigel Thompson were taken into custody for the 2011 shooting murder of the St Catherine businessman, Barrington 'Bossy' Burton.

Threadstarter has MISLEADING title.

The Jury is NOT directed to return a verdict of Not Guilty.

The Judge simply ruled on a motion by the prosecutor to put into evidence STATEMENTS made by their lead witness that is NOW IN HIDING for FEAR OF HIS LIFE because of alleged police abuse / abuse by kartel goons.

Judge said his statements cannot be used. The case seems incredibly weak but if prosecutors have any more evidence on him it could be stronger. Also the Judge Told them They should MAKE A STRONGER Effort to locate the witness.

Also The Case has not even yet really began. This was an opening motion by the Prosecutor. No expert witness and evidence haven't really been presented. They are still jostling over that. The Jury wasn't present for the arguing of this motion.

HOWEVER this IS NOT HIS BIG CASE.

His big case is scheduled to be TRIED in November.

That murder case there is an alleged Video and phone evidence linking Vybz kartel to the crime which is why he has been remanded for 2 years when trial finally rolls around.

(The one he is in court fighting now, He was offered $3 Million Bail.) The One in November there is no Bail offered by the crown.

Vybz Kartel Not Guilty... Acquitted After Prosecution Offers No Further Evidence

A Home Circuit Court jury has been directed to rule that dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel is not guilty of the murder of St. Catherine businessman Barrington ‘Bossy’ Burton.

However, Kartel will remain in custody because he has another murder case pending against him.

The jury has also freed Kartel's two co-accused, Lenburgh McDonald and Nigel Thompson.

Supreme Court judge Bryan Sykes instructed the 12-member jury to return the verdicts after the prosecution informed the court that it had no further evidence against the men.

The stage for the collapse of the case was set yesterday after Justice Sykes turned down an application by the Crown to admit two witness statements in the trial.

He said he was not convinced that the prosecution took enough steps to locate the witnesses.

The three were taken into custody for the 2011 shooting murder of the St Catherine businessman.

Kartel whose real name is Adidja Palmer is to return to the Home Circuit Court in November for trial in relation to the Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams murder case.
