Wow I read the data at that link and those numbers are crazy. Most concerning is the adolescent numbers among black girls compared to black boys.

Black boys ages 6-11 are as fat as white boys. But black girls in that same age group are twice as likely to be obese compared to white girls.

This has a tremendous impact on adolescent development and dating in teen and young adult years.

Why isn’t this more of an issue among black parents, mothers in particular?

That is very true and it’s on the parents or parent to push the active lifestyle on all of their kids instead of just the boys. However, more than likely the parent or parents are as well and only sees the active lifestyle as a way to get their boys pro or something. It’s never just a lifestyle to keep up your health with a lot of black folks.

In a country where 4/10 women are clinically obese she probably thinks she really does deserve better than a short Indian dude taking her to a chain restaurant. But the reality is she should have been happy and on her best behavior.
