Wait...isn't this what Dr. Umar was supposed to be doing?

seeing a white man around all these black kids have my spidey senses tingling but i took a look at the site and they seem legit, they even have an annual report with financials that the public can view

- dude have some legit people on the board of trustees (something any organization like that seeking donations should have btw), could of been more black people though but :yeshrug:
- the teaching staff looks majority black
- the academics looks solid.
- plus they give a breakdown of the school financing and major donors.

Omar could definitely learn something from these people's operation.

:martin:breh them people have an annual report with the school's financial breakdown and they have some pretty solid donors that they could have give it to only but they have it public

yeah annual - as in after the school was opened and operational.... not before the concrete of the building was laid.

breh it's not only about the annual report but those people looked like they got people with experience in running organizations involved to create a board for the school and i bet they had to show those people some type of plan. For Umar to be taken seriously he needs to do something like this, you can't expect people to take someone without a plan or without legit people by his side seriously. dude could easily find some black business people, teachers, principles etc and show them his plan if he don't want to show it to his lowly $10 donors.

Clark and Bearden actively recruited board members who shared their vision and passion. Once they had a team of supporters, Clark and Bearden began to scour the city in hopes of finding a school site. After looking at close to fifty properties, they came upon an abandoned, dilapidated warehouse in South Atlanta. They were told it was no place for a school; they knew it was exactly what they had been looking for. Their mission was not only to lift up their students; they wanted to lift up a community as well.

In November of 2005, Ron Clark purchased the warehouse using earnings from the sales of The Essential 55, and they moved one step closer to making the dream a reality. Extreme renovations were completed on the building while the fundraising and operational processes were set in place. Throughout the months that followed, Clark and Bearden visited countless businesses, foundations, community events, churches, and civic and neighborhood planning meetings to share their dream with anyone who would listen.

From February to March of 2007, two hundred students were interviewed to determine our first class of students. During this same time, hundreds of employee applications were received. Countless interviews were held for faculty and staff over the subsequent months, and a world-class faculty and staff was established.

On March 17, 2007, the inaugural class of sixty students was announced. Thirty-two sixth grade students and twenty- eight fifth grade students with varying strengths and challenges were selected. On September 4, 2007, a high school marching band, drum line, and color guard joined us as we welcomed the inaugural class of the Ron Clark Academy. Sixty bright-eyed, beautiful children joined us in a magical celebration as they spun the Great Wheel, became "slide certified," and discovered their house assignments.
Since that day, we have become a true family. We have challenged, motivated, disciplined, and inspired these students, and we have grown to love them for their amazing gifts and unique abilities. We truly believe that we have future world leaders at our school, and we are honored to teach them each and every day.

breh how do you or I know if he has contacted anyone like your suggesting, maybe I'm wrong and you know Umar personally but it sounds like most people just assume they know what has or hasn't happened and unless you know him its all speculation. Just admit you don't know what about this mans moves. I'm just saying we judge too fast.

it's not about whether he contacted anyone it's about if any of those people are willing to roll with him. and if he did and there are then make it public, that's the point:heh:. having certain types of people on your team not only means that your serious about your shyt but it gives others confidence that they are backing something solid. and if it's the case that he have solid people and not willing to share with the lowly $10 donors then don't try to solicit those types:yeshrug:

For some clarity, Charter schools still have curriculum that has to match the state. This is what Ron Clark has, he teaches from a eurocentric pov. Brother Umar wants a PRIVATE school with an afrocentric science based curriculum. This would be private funded. HUGE diffference.

Brother Umar needs to be more transparent and not such an egotist he is defeating his own purpose. Shame.

Breh if and when the school gets started then you'll have your proof, until then either support the man or fall back. He never promised you goofy nikkas he would include y'all in the building process, if you got suggestions email this man directly. Plans always get foiled or shytted on when it's too much info given. Y'all need to chill that shyt out
