Again, that's because you were raised in a European education system.
Unless you went to school in Africa you did too breh. And I know what schools in Africa are like. Bottom line school is a tool. It's on the kids parents and that parents social circle to raise the kids right.

I don't understand why people keep comparing what uhmar is doing to what this white guy or any other black private schools. Uhmar wants to be solely funded by blacks, so he can teach an african/black curriculum. He also wants to teach agriculture and technical skills not part of the normal curriculum that white funded schools don't do. He wants teach young black men in a way that no white person will, because they aren't black and don't have the same perspective.

Do I know if it will work? No. However, I hope it does. I don't want or need to shyt on these others schools but, Uhmar is trying to do something different and has different obstacles then these other schools.

This is where you're wrong. In many schools teachers play an integral role in their students lives. My girl teaches 3rd grade and she has to build character in some of her students because it helps them learn better. The idea that teachers should only teach curriculum is a European way of educating children.

Again, that's because you were raised in a European education system.

:jbhmm: i'm curious, but what is the non European or even the African way of educating

What he's trying to do is 100% useless in this country.
What he needs to stop is with this pseudo-Afrocentrist bullshyt he's trying to push, and try to empower Black kids in America today.
They can't do shyt with an Africentrist curricula, they can't do shyt with agriculture.
He needs to work to bridge the learning gap between Black students and White/Asian students.
He needs to work to keep kids off the street, out of drugs and violence, and out of destruction.
He needs to do what Loyola of New Orleans (the HBCU) does for Black kids who want to go into Medicine and STEM, and empower them.
He wants glory for opening up a Black-centered Black-majority school in the US, shyt that'll leave kids scrambling when they have to take the graduation test, SAT or the ACT, or fill out college apps, or when they have to take real classes outside of the school.

Its brutal.
None of these posters went to a Nigerian school, half of the posters here can't even do Calculus. The "American" style of teaching is lenient, compared to the rest of the world (excluding the UK).

Actually when I was younger I went to an African centered school in Brooklyn. Instead of singing the national anthem during events we'd sing the negro national anthem. It was a black curriculum, black principal, black students, black teachers, black everything.

And shyt was night and day from when I went to an all white school :mjpls:

The emphasis was on "empower them" that's why I bolded it. It wasn't on STEM :dwillhuh:
Do you know how Loyola of New Orleans works? Its not that large of a school (3000 students) so the professors try to work with any students that may be struggling significantly in an area, and bring them up to speed. It fosters a community of building, which is why so many kids from the school go into STEM. I'm not saying he should push kids into STEM, I'm saying he should work with them so they can excel in whatever they want.

your whole post reeks of STEM...saying agriculture is not as important. Everything else I agree with

Truth and logic
not everyone wants to do STEM, stop being narrow minded

Furthermore, some people desire to build their own home as opposed to assimilating into a burning one.

What good is calculus if you don't even know how to feed yourself? You have to rely on some other people to feed you every drop of food you eat because you wouldn't know what to do with seeds if they slapped you across your face.

What good is an ACT if you grow up to hate yourself, hate your people, and think that your role on this earth is to be subservient and support a system that thrives off of your oppression?

I should note that I do not believe that Umar is building a school, and if he is, then I question his competence. I believe that people are being sold a dream that they don't realize could be a reality without Umar's blessings.

One thing I think hurts Black American society and European washed African societies is that there are no more "coming of age" rituals/initiations that "initiates you into becoming a Man or Woman in your ethnic group/tribe.

All I'll say is my lady came over from poor ass Sierra Leone and was way ahead of other kids her age. So far that they had no choice but to let her skip a grade. Coming from a country with way less resources and you're more advanced than americans, is :ohhh:

American education is a joke but the biggest joke is parents that don't do their part and expect it all to be on the teachers
