Why are people so confused on the Rocafella deal. Every KanYe album has come out on Rocafella/Def Jam. Rocafella did not die when Jay and Dame had the fallout. It was sold to Def Jam in a deal. Believe it or not Jay Z and Dame still get profit-share from Rocafella. They just don't own it anymore. Def Jam does. "Roc Nation" was just a way for Jay to get more profits. So he's really caking off his albums but Def Jam is still getting it's cut of Ye and Jay.

The Def Jam deal still let Jay and Dame keep profits from all the publishing they made on Rocafella as well as getting a cut of any new albums that come out from Def Jam on Rocafella. But yes the Label we loved from the late 90's and Early 2000's is gone. Rocafella is more of less just a name now but with Ye and Jay still releasing albums under it, it keeps it alive and keeps everyone eating. I'm sure once KanYe deal is done with Def Jam he will be off of Rocafella. Jay has Roc Nation so he doesn't have to release Holy Grail on Rocafella but I guess hes' choosing to do so. Peace to Rocafella though, Legendary Label:

Jay-z signed a distribution deal with Universal, which owns Roc-a-fella.
A lot of former Jay-z/Roc-a-fella employees and his friends work at Def Jam, which Roc-a-fella is under. So it seems like nothing more than some swagged out shyt to do.

I think the plan is the merge Roc-a-fella and Roc-Nation, since Roc-a-fella still own some of Jay's masters until this and next year, the remaining masters are then returned it's returned to Jay.

So I think it's probably just some swagged out shyt or it has to do with his masters. Or both.

To be clear, I didn't think Roc-a-Fella was dead. I just thought since Jay had his own new label that things were coming out there...

LIVE NATION turned down his bid for that 250 million that he was bragging about seekin in "3 KINGS"

he turned to UNIVERSAL and they got him back on DEF JAM under the UMG (universal music group) umbrella...he talks about it in the song "OPEN LETTER" on the magna carta album..

Hear the freedom in my speech
Got an onion from Universal, read it and weep
