Citizenship applicants do already live here. Some of them have been living here longer than you have. And I generally consider it good for the other people in my community, if they have chosen to reside in this country, to have the same rights and responsibilities of a citizen that I have. Therefore I prefer that all permanent residents become citizens.
Illegal immigrant entries being down is a good thing in the abstract, though of course in any particular instance it could be the result of something bad.
