I remember reading LL was close personal friends with a lot of thorough cats back in the day (Preme, Alpo, etc.)

Why you think beef was such a rare thing back then? Alot of those old school rappers that probably look corny to this generation had legit street dudes running with them. Even Run DMC had hood ties.

To be fair around the mid 90s or so when he went fully for the ladies and was the sitcom dad he wasn't seen as 'hardcore'
LL Cool J recorded 'Im Bad' and will forever be bad because of it, IMO.

LL knew all them cats. Bimmy, who was a member of Supreme Team (And Wacka Flocka's uncle) has been working with LL since the early 90s to the present. I think he even has EP credits on some LL albums.
