I did this once when i first moved in my house, because i wasn't sure how recently it had been done or how much build up there was.
But thats all i plan to do. it doesn't build up fast enough to require another flush before i have to end up replacing it.

One thing this taught me though is do cook with hot water. Not that i ever did. but cold water is clearly cleaner

Man I don’t know what to think right now. My drain pan is full though so I’m thinking the system got iced. We had this problem last year and it ended up being a blower motor. My condensation lines should be clear. I pour vinegar down them last year.

Why would I have a shytload of water coming from my return air vent? My system is 8 years old I think.
Could be a number of things. If your pan is full that means it’s not draining. The drain line is likely blocked. BEFORE u call out a technician 1. get an air gun to try and clear the drain so the pan isn’t hold water. 2. Change your filter(s) -a dirty filter restricts air flow causing ice.

Did it a few weeks ago. No sediment at all due to the water treatment setup I have out back. I make sure I check all my shyt during the summer. AC unit and HWH. AC unit needed a new capacitor which was only about $150 and got a pound of freon for the low.

For the preppers out there it might be worth it to flush it more often. That water heater tank can serve as extra water storage in emergencies.
Some natural disaster happens and all the plumbing is turned off. You got an extra 20 gallons of water just sitting there.
