He played college ball, he's been a sports writer for like 20 years, and he's well connected. Contrary to popular opinion he's not some dummy that doesnt know what he's talking about
Whether he played anything or not is irrelevant.
He's obviously connected...but just as obviously he's pretty terrible at his job.

I don't like 
but I don't question his credibility. Fact is the one thing I like about him is he has NO problem deferring or letting it be known when a topic comes up that he ISNT an expert in when giving his opinion about it. He often will say "I can speak only as fan, not an expert, but as a fan I..." for a sport such as college football which he himself will say he is much more casual with it than others and usually doesn't speak much about the game itself but more WILL speak about the politics and psychology of it. Again, the dude gets on my nerves but he never stans a player (cough Broussard cough) and has no problem bucking the system and applying common sense to garbage that is sports analysis.

Tell me what journalism course teaches what he does on TV.
Do you even know the ethics of journalism to say what he does on TV reflects the field?
I dont understand the point you guys are trying to make. Just because Steven A. has moved into editorializing and opinion making, doesnt discredit his years as a disciplined journalist. Hes just shifted his focus, which is decidedly more lucrative --- obviously.
