Not sure if it's specific to just Gen-Z, its a "I used to work in service so I know how it is" thing.

My wife and I both worked in service and we do this. We give the maximum amount on tips, and more if the service was exceptional.

On the other hand, a piece of shyt is a piece of shyt. shytty attitudes, messy tables, and shytty or no tips come from folks of all ages.
