I don't know too many people who listened to Jay and wanted to sell drugs. Lebron, KD, Drake, Kanye, and a shytload of other successful people all came up listening to Jay, and none of them have a record in the drug game. I came up listening to a lot of Jay when i was coming of age, (and still am) and I never once was tempted to sell cocaine or load guns. I'm at NYU with a 3.8 and I have a damn good job. He ain't doing songs talking about the dope game, he's doing songs talking about how he used to be in the dope game, as a struggling youth trying to make it in White America. It's more an underdog story than it is a story about drugs. It's about doing what it takes to survive in a system that desperately wants to see you die.
