Wale's career actually went fine considering the lane he's in. 3 Gold albums is nothing to sneeze at for a lyrical conscious rapper.

He just didn't dabble outside the lane he was in enough to appeal to the casual audiences. And that's okay. Not everyone is meant to crossover like that.

Plus, a lot of his hit songs that the masses got exposed to suffered from the French Montana effect where the guests outshone him on his own songs and Wale felt like an afterthought on his own hits.

You dumb ass nikkas really dont know what "dark-skinned" fukking blind as a baseball bat.
Breh, you said Tyler was "caramel" in this thread. :mjlol:

Even in Lagos, Tyler wouldn't be considered "caramel."

Tyler is dark skinned. He's just not super dark like Akon or Biggie. But there's no way a dude that's darker than Kendrick and Kanye is "caramel." That's some LSA level types of juelzing.

Dude sold out with MMG which ironically gave him his highest highs but made himself most dependent on how poppin as a label they were. If he stayed in his niche backpack lane he'd probably still have a cult presence today for shows etc.

Never challenging himself to make a hit song solo and being a male feminist panderer didn't do any good either. Also when he obtained the woat rap voice/delivery ever around 2013-2014 it was a wrap for dude. DMV really doesn't like him like that & well, seems like noone does tbh :manny:

Edit: Attention Deficit was a very good album that the masses crapped on. Dude was the first on a major before Cole, Big Sean, & Kendrick.

Bullshyt revisionist shyt.

Signing with mmg saved his career.

He had flamed out with a huge budget behind him at interscope. They put the whole building behind him. And he flopped and was dropped.

He didn’t sign with mmg for his health. He was looked as damaged goods.

And people weren’t looking to sign him.

He signed with the hottest rap crew and they gave him looks from people who wouldn’t ever check for some cornball poet before hand.

Him, Cole and Kendrick all had the same subject matter and Kendrick is dark skin.

They both are better than him, don’t throw temper tantrums, don’t act like cornballs, and people like them.

Wale career was literally carried by mmg and roc nation and when ge got away from both of them, people immediately stopped checking for his music.
The hottest rap crew. One Plat album lol

I got a homie, he a rapper and he wanna win bad
He want the fame, the acclaim, the respect that's been had
By all the legends, so every time I see him, he stressing
Talking 'bout, nikkas don't fukk with him, the shyt is depressing
And I know he so bitter he can't see his own blessings
Goddamn, nikka, you too blind to see you got fans, nikka
And a platform to make a classic rap song
To change a nikka's life, but you too anxious living life
Always worried 'bout the critics who ain't ever fukking did it
I write what's in my heart, don't give a fukk who fukking with it
But in a sense I can relate, the need to be great
Turns into an obsession and keeps a nikka up late
Writin' words, hopin' people observe the dedication
That stirs in you constantly, but intentions get blurred
Do I do it for the love of the music or is there more to me?
Do I want these nikkas to worship me? False prophets
