I get where you're coming from in terms of your belief that the dude needs to stop dropping album worthy cuts in bulk a month before his albums drop (he's literally done that before every album he's dropped on Ross's imprint), but this album is still spectacular to me. shyt is the fulfillment of the promise this nikka showed as an artist back when mixtape about nothing dropped. Sonically, lyrically, thematically and flow wise I think it's his best album IMO. shyt is tough.

I don't like this better than Kendrick's album but I think it's every bit as good or better than Cole's album and I'm a Cole fan.
I don't know, maybe I set my expectations too high for my breh Wale. I do think it's better than Cole's album... It's close. The same criticisms I have for FHD are some of my same problems I have with this album.
man stfu. middle finger is better than deep end. way better
Nah, it's not.

Like I said, you replace some of the average songs on TAAN with the tracks I linked and this album is undeniable.

You honestly think Wale's singing is dope on some of these songs?

Why didn't he have the choir at the end of The White Shoes sing the hook throughout the entire song? That's a prime example of what I'm saying. The song is soulful, lyrics on point, but the quality of the song is dragged down by him singing the hook.

And it makes no fukking sense to me when he then has the choir at the end of the song singing it and sounding a million times better.

It's like if he sang the chorus on The Matrimony...

i dont know about all this shyt youre saying and its no disrespect

all i know is that DJ Dahi's beat > Tone P's
Wale floating on Middle Finger > Wale and Pusha's flow on Deep End
the bars were better
the concept of the song is better
and yes, i actually liked the chorus with both the singing and its background vocals.

that song is 10/10 to me. Both are dope but this is just better. But thats just me.

There are people in here saying that Ambition isnt a good album so I'm not really taking anyone's opinion too seriously. by the way, i liked the festivus intro better than this one and chess shouldve def been included. Followers too.

i'd trade followers for one time in houston (the only bad song)

i dont see a problem with homie releasing mixtapes full of heat even if there are some hit or misses on the album.

In this case...the album flows so nicely and is so balanced that i dont mind. I can listen to Festivus all the way through except for 2 songs and transition perfectly into this joint.

Could do the same with 11-1-11 really. Pick Six, Barry Sanders, Globetrotter...them joints still get play.

Then again..if he put School Daze, Limitless and Change Up on the Gifted instead of some of those tracks I'd probably say its his best album

http://www.xxlmag.com/news/2015/03/wale-says-he-was-deeply-depressed-making-the-album-about-nothing/

Wale’s fourth solo record, The Album About Nothing, hits stores tomorrow (March 31). It features contributions from Kanye West, Usher, J. Cole and Jeremih–to say nothing of Jerry Seinfeld himself. Yet while this would seem to be a joyous moment for the DMV rapper, he gave a shockingly candid interview to Billboard that sheds light on the darker parts of his life.

“I was depressed not being where I wanna be in my career when I’ve put the work in,” Wale said. After admitting that he had taken an endless string of pills (he declined to identify said drugs), he went on to further explain his situation. “I wasn’t sleeping. I was drinking all day and I didn’t have anyone to go to. I couldn’t fight it. Those are some of the demons I talk about on the album.”

Wale also opened up about his proclivity for engaging, sometimes rashly, with fans and detractors online. “People ask, ‘Why do you check social media comments?’ he said. “But what else do I have, bro?” In 2013, the Ambition rapper called the offices of Complex Magazine, furious that he had not been included in their year-end best-of lists. Instead of (to borrow another Davidian phrase) curbing his enthusiasm, Wale doubled down to Billboard, “I don’t get no major articles. Nobody talks about Wale like that. So what do you do when you’re busting your ass and taking pills to stay up and be able to provide the right energy, and you’re not seeing the proper response?”
