Fam.. That go go hip hop infusion is Wale

Yeah he makes great singles for the ladies but the man has bars

We're not saying he's the goat but he deserves a little more admiration. It's not like his peers are head and shoulders better than he is.
Funny shyt to me is that dudes big Cole up for lyrics but act like Wale is just filling space on these tracks.

Cole can't hold Wale's fukking coat :mjlol:

thats honestly my sentiment and i think it was either xxl or rapgenius that did an article talking bout the difference between cole and wale and why one is more praised than the other

LYRICALLY Wale shytS on his contemporaries, although his delivery is what hinders him sometimes (I'll never forgive him for that performance on Pusha T's "Only You Can Tell It")

There's no way you can listen to "Legendary" and not tell me son wasn't spitting elite shyt.

His wordplay far exceeds Cole's and Drake's by far

edit: it was RapGenius Wale: The Antithesis of J. Cole | Genius Blog

Wale gave J. Cole his first mainstream debut with a feature verse on “Beautiful Bliss.” J. Cole stated that he felt like he had something to prove, and popular consensus is that he obliterated Wale on his own track. However, this is really just another “Renegade” situation. One rapper (Eminem/Cole) spits very in-your-face, overt punchlines, while the other (Jay-Z/Wale) drops multliple entendre gems that can only be appreciated by taking a closer look.

My punchlines like gut checks -- J. Cole

Everyone recognizes Cole’s wordplay on the first listen. There isn’t much to uncover about lines like “But mama I ain’t done yet/Sit back and watch your son rise/Kick back and know yo son set.” Conversely, a majority of listeners aren’t going to get the beauty of “Fresh out the chair with the clippers like Shaun Living.” Both equally dope, but their brilliance has to be experienced differently. If Cole’s punchlines are like gut checks then Wale’s punchlines are the broken rib you realize you have the next day.

Prime example of the difference between Cole and Wale lyrically

I can get people not connecting with the personality but let's be real

Drake does no interviews because he's devoid of a personality so that shouldn't be the main detractor

Wale also sells records so it's clear he has a fan base with a formula. Once again, this about why he isn't seen in the same breathe as Drake, Kendrck, Cole, Big Sean, and EVEN MEEK

I love wale and the album about nothing is a classic. But make no mistake j Cole obliterated him on beautiful bliss. Wales flow wasn't really polished around that time like it is now

He didn't "obliterate" him on The Pessimiest though

Cole didn't have a verse on there

Again...I wouldnt say obliterated but in terms of flow and delivery yes Cole got him...but BARS/Lyrically Wale tap danced all over that boy's verse...and i knew people (through personal experience/twitter) had different ways of listening when the high light bar of Cole's verse that they always referenced was the Sunset/Sunrise bars...clever but for me it was just cool...but the wordplay in Wale's verses got overshined by Cole delivery
