I could see why Wale seems so down about his position in rap. Dude was in the GQ issue with Drake and Cudi back in 08. He had Cole open for him before Cole dropped His debut. Seeing some of his peers surpass him can leave you with self doubt.

What do those other two have that Wale doesn't? Cats think I'm on some bullsh1t but it's because he's dark skinned.
simplistic schemes, rhymes and flows

hate to say it... but if you play wale for a person not used to listening closely, you gonna miss shyt... and how he raps, it's hard to even pick up everything on the first try

now he'll switch it up for SOME singles.. but not even the whole song.. he'll still mumble out dope bars that you gotta go back on

and his attitude does NOT help... he's so arrogant but in a condensing way.. like you see in this interview right off the back... like he takes himself too serious and always ready to talk up what he's doing by talking down on the next

i feel if he was more hollywood and dumbed down a little, he'd be right up there with them... cause if you actually look at his sales, he's right up there

Exactly how it sounds (no entendre/no pun)

Drake hyped views for the last three years and it's a dud. I'm not talking singles and sales I'm talking album quality. In my opinion it's his worst solo album.... Almost equal to his debut but this is his fourth album so it's no excuse.

Bigger and bigger is a direct correlation to record sales.. I doubt that album has any transformational impact on the culture. I won't bet on Kendrick or J Cole adopting Jamaican accents and dance hall vibes for the singles on their next album...

Views is a 6/10
the problem is saying "impacted the culture"... you gonna have to define what that means.. i hear more drake clones than chance clones

and if you not selling, nobody is bumping your shyt, nobody playing your songs, and you not doing numbers........... then how exactly did you influence anybody more than the man leading the game (sales wise) right now???

and you talking to someone who thinks drake album was complete and utter trash... but if i went around and asked random people do you like hip hop? and followed it up with do you like drake or chance more? most people would say "who's chance?"

what IMPACT did chance have exactly on the culture? better album, yes... but that's not what he said

God's Plan
i think charlamage hit it on the head. its a likeability factor. some of that is a fault of his own but he's gotten some pretty nerdy, unwarrented hate since nearly the beginning of his career as well....people love to bring up the beautiful bliss, but wale and cole hav had a few collabs since then where wale bested him. whatever 'tier' wale is considered. in terms of skill, he is above cole.
