They got rid of most of their cashiers and converted a lot of those check out lanes to self check out.

It's annoying as hell when it be a bunch of people in the lines at self checkout and plenty of open registers but employees just be standing around doing nothing or playing on their phones.

2. they're really trying to keep the majority of their workers from running to Amazon jobs.

People need to go to college, trade school, or military. Or do something like truck driving if you got to. People will call you a bootstrap c00n, but there is no tried and true alternative. Voting wouldn't work because even if minimum wage was $20/hr that's still not even enough.


Get up and grind people. Move back in with your parents, get a roommate, shack up with the opposite sex, whatever needs to be done to get ahead.

Takes a lot of mental energy/stamina to sit in front of a computer 8+ hours a day I would imagine.

They say that Walmart employees are the biggest users of public assistance like food stamps. Because they are paid so poorly and aren't given enough hours to make ends meet.

So always remember -- companies paying employees like shyt means that you, as a taxpayer, have to make up the difference.

Hobby Lobby out here in the outer suburbs had a sign on the door last fall that they were hiring for $10hr, in the same shopping center Walmart had signs that were starting at $17hr, Chic-Fil-A across the parking lot was starting at $16hr.

I remember making $10hr in 2008 and had to work 2 jobs because it wasn't enough back then.
