In a weird way though I think this will actually lead to lasting change. The status quo was what the democrats offered and it was rejected. Progressives who want to do big things like overturn citizens united, restore the marginal tax rate to what it was during America's Golden age, protect peoples data and raise minimum wage will be far more popular than "here are some tax credits you can apply for"Like I said before this administration will be destructive to the middle and poor classes.
But hey Kamala is indian and what about those tangibles![]()
People got a glimpse of what the government can actually do for people when they get off their asses back in 2020 and 2021. People want more of that and they can have it if enough politicians stop being afraid of billionaires and start taxing them. What are they going to do? Run somewhere else and inflate the housing prices and crush small businesses there? They're fukking parasites who don't contribute to society more than your friends and family members who work 9-5 jobs. 2020 exposed the charade. We saw who is actually important. It's not these CEOs who have meetings all day and fire staff before dipping with more money in their account than all the employees in their office. It's the nurses, delivery drivers, care aids, cooks, teachers, pharmacists, cleaners, day laborers etc. That keep this country going.
The first person to promise these people higher wages, better job security, and the means for upper mobility(free education, student loan forgiveness) will get serious motion. If they win these people over there is more than enough for them to dominate in an election. If they enact their agenda instead of coming up with bullshyt excuses like the senate parliamentarian or a colleague breaking ranks, they're locked in for a second term. Democrats kept focusing on appealing to your supervisors instead of appealing to YOU. If they're offering you free childcare, free healthcare, free schooling, housing subsidies, and protecting the sanctity of your vote by kicking big money out of politics you have reasons to vote FOR them. You're not voting out of fear of what the right will do, you're voting because you've been given a vision of the future that puts you first.
