I get what you guys are saying for comedy or being a viewer's sake... but he acted exactly how his character would in that situation. He had no idea wtf was going on, he was a square, he'd just been told about his dad, there was speculation his dad killed his uncle, and his dad was wrestling with his mom on the ground with a knife.

If he would have did ANYTHING else it would be terrible writing and people would be up in arms.
