The problem with your assertion is skilled people just dont up and leave their homelands in large numbers. They are usually comfortable and would rather stay in their homeland.

Most people are drawn to the US for better opportunities. A merit based system would keep out a lot of very smart and ambitious Black people who are not currently skilled.

Plus why provide further incentives to brain drain the continent you mope.

the us does not have an infinite capacity for unskilled labor, flooding the labor markets with unskilled labor reduces wages for native unskilled workers. the us needs to address the issues and needs of unskilled workers in the us first

yall keep trying so hard to make it a black issue, the vast majority of immigrants are non black so black people in the caribbean and africa cant lose something (easy access to america) that they never had, the current policy grants vast access to non black people and a sliver of access to a sliver of black people in africa and the caribbean that happen to have relatives in america

a merit based system would give anyone of the billion people in africa a chance, africa has more than a billion people which puts it in par with china
