Wanting Young men (18-25) to act like grown vets...

I noticed that we (As fans or sports shows) seem to want young men to act like grown 34-35 year olds

1. Allen Iverson said this once " Why people want me to act 35 Im 22 let me grow Into that first (even if he act somewhat the same these days)

2. You can't seem to make any mistakes or say anything without people saying "so and so would not say that"
but if you look at it that guy was like maybe 32-34 years of age at the time and there was no "super media" at the time.

3. Just reading the comments here alot of you guys would be In the lime light all the damn time If you was In the NBA,NFL,MLB.



In short are we asking to much of these guys at this young age?

Because you get nikkas like AI that still act like they are 22 when they are 38. When you are a professional, face of a business and they are putting millions of dollars in your pocket, those folks aren't trying to hear about the Dynasty Raiders fukking up nikkas on wax. There are higher expectations of you. It is simply what it is. You get money to remove yourself from that element.

Nah Im not saying that like hanging out with the wrong element Im talking about small things like saying the "wrong" thing at a at the spot moment.
I always hear " those guys in the 90's would say this and that....I always say you cant say nothing like that any more people get to but hurt over everything these days. The psychoanalysis that goes into stuff these day is crazy thats why you see players cover their mouths on the sidelines these days .

Just like other people in the world it takes time....Case in point I am In the Army (16 years in) when I get a new PVT I do not expect them to know It all 18-23 I understand that they leaving home for the first time and need some time to get right.

I feel like being the face of a team or a good player where a mic is put in there face all the time you will slip up or at a club you will slip up. Its just youth.

Wanting athletes to act like "professionals" in other fields that don't equate to the culture of sports is just dumb period..

Most of these dudes are nothing more than high paid rock heads and savages anyway...

As long as they can stay out of prison I don't care what they wear or say..

On one hand I totally agree, on the other I feel that young athletes are worse than "dumb", they really lack personnality imo. So in a sense i'd like them to be more themselves, if that makes sense. I think the internet-era has fukked them up both ways: if they act naturally/have fun/fukk up they're roasted on the spot, and so they try to be corporate as they can, meaning they lack personnality and end up being boring as fukk (including on the court if we're talking NBA).

This is how I acted naturally during my 20's: Going to work, taking care of my family, eating cereal at 4 in the morning. This is how I had fun in my 20's: Video games, vacationing, concerts. This is how I fukked up in my 20's: Got divorced, car accidents. All of that is normalcy. The Pacman Jones' of the world is something entirely different. I don't care if they blow a million dollars on a poker hand, it's the equivalent of us losing a stack. They have access to more money than us but that still doesn't shield them from acting like they have a smidgen of sense. Most athletes do but we still do sometimes get the Tidus Youngs and Delonte West's of the world.
