Just imagine the USA without NYC, LA, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas, Austin, Houston, Seattle, Philly, D.C, Chicago

It would be nothing but a backwards fukking rural and suburban cultural backwater with chain restaurants, supermarkets and military bases.

Urban centers are more important than entire countries.Urban centers are the backbone of human civilization.

Nobody that wants do anything with their life is going to be in the suburbs.

Most people just don't want to be broke living in an urban area. Nothing comes from suburbs.

American suburbs were built in the 1950s because people wanted to drive their fukking car and have a big house because Americans are vapid. No other country has the same car culture and McMansion bullshyt that Americans have and then have to drive 2 hours to go to work.

No other country builds these ugly fukking sprawling monstrosities littered with fukking Walmarts and Chili's and IHops and townhouses.

This is a warning. Do not get trapped in the fukking suburbs. Been there did that. fukk that shyt. Years of your life will go by, really slow and suddenly fast all at once.

Define suburbs. Cities like LA, Miami, Houston, ATL kind blur the lines between suburbs and urban areas. LA has "street car suburbs" where historically those suburban areas had their own town centers built around those street car systems. Other suburbs while having the traditional layout of a post WW2 suburb, they still maintain some character and offer local mom and pop businesses instead of just corporate retail and restaurants.

A lot of people who identify with those areas are actually from the suburbs. A lot of the important parts of the greater LA and Atlanta area for instance are not in the city proper, but in the suburbs.

And most American cities are pretty suburban outside of the downtown area. Mostly detached houses with driveways, where everyone drives.

I've never heard of anyone trying to "make it out" of the suburbs. Everyones trying to make it out of these urban population dense areas with no trees, side walks that smell like trash, and depressing mass transit

I understand where you’re coming from but I feel like wherever humans collectively gather, a culture will be formed.

Now, comparing urban culture with suburban, yes suburban culture always seems weaker in comparison mostly because the premise on which it occurs; white flight, urban areas experiencing gentrification which forces another group to leave urban centers, etc.

The advantage, and which has always been the advantage to humans in every aspect, is the diversity experienced in urban centers. When you have more ingredients, you can have more combinations and varieties.

Grew up in the city of Chicago. Live in the city of Atlanta. I know it’s not that important to most people, but I HAVE to live in the city. I high key don’t even like going outside of the city for anything. I mean nothing. I have not fukked with bytches, went to concerts, etc... just cause the shyt was outside the city. But like I said, I know I’m extreme with it. I truly do despise the suburbs.
