Yep I think about this a lot. But let's cut to the chase here. Most member in congress are already millionaires, they'd be potentially gutting their pockets, businesses, and industries.I think it's less of either. I think what you see here are a lot of Democrat leaders are very well educated and from good backgrounds and as a result have not and do not live within the struggle that many Americans face. As a result they can pinpoint issues, but don't attack it with urgency.
There is also a built in idea of decorum that comes along with being from a good background and liberal.
All of this is a long way of saying, irrespective of party ideals, until there is better representation of Americans in congress and money being removed or severely limited you're always going to see billionaires and big corporations come out ahead.
But real talk, congress doesnt even proportionately reflect the general population. It's primarily all white and male. That's a limited perspective to the issues affecting metropolitan areas, despite if they come from a major city or represent a certain diversified district. Chances are if they grew up in a big city, they lived "isolated" in the well off parts of town and probably lived in gated communities.
