There’s some beef. DC natives think the students are arrogant, stuck up rich kids. Howard students think the natives are broke townies. But at the same time they all still party together at the clubs, the city proudly supports the school, everyone comes to homecoming, and all these cats try to push up on the college girls. It’s interesting to me though because I would imagine if the DC natives should hate anyone right now, it should be all the cacs that are gentifrying the area around Howard. Not the Carlton’s and Hilary’s walking around campus.

I attend Howard currently.

A lot of of these kids need positive male influence. I remember helping my Spanish professor register kids for his HS in this latino and black neighborhood around Columbia Heights close to where that Target is

damn near all the latino families came in with their fathers, I remember only 1 black family had a father.

Howard is very much involved with the local community here. There isn’t some great divide. I always see kids on the yard with college students throwing frisbees or playing some game. We have clubs dedicated to giving mentorship and tutoring help.

the relationship has to be mutualistic.

Some don’t but overwhelming majority dont. It’s plenty of women who go to college and med school specifically to find a husband. The more prestigious the school the less successful locals are going to be with getting at the students. Hood nikkas ain’t pulling women at UCLA with the same rate they are at Savannah State.

That’s where the stuck up label comes from. Local bums thinking because a woman would rather date someone in school and doing something over someone with fast money and some rims means she is stuck up. Naw, she playing the long game.

Building more rec centers and providing summer jobs won’t fix this.
Mass incarceration and blaming black men isn’t working.

The majority of the single mothers in the hood are having babies by the same few men and they don’t care because it’s incentivized and there’s no repercussions for the mothers bad parenting.
The need to start charging the parent for crimes just like how they do if the child gets a hold of a firearm that belongs to the parent.

I'm not disagreeing with a majority of what you're saying but you lock the parent(s) up, then what? Kid is an orphan or goes and lives with a grandparent who they'll run over too. Locking up the parent(s) solves nothing. Some of these lil fukkers are lost causes and it's sad but it is what it is. But I've known nikkas in middle class homes with both parents who turned to crime.
