Both teams weren't at their peak when they beat each other before KD.
Love was hurt and Kyrie got hurt in the 15 Finals. Bron pushed for donkey to be suspended and Steph, Iggy, and Bogut were hurt in 16 Finals (Harrison Barnes really fukked them over but that's another story). I'd say that's even.
KDs antics just trumped Bron's in 17 and 18 with Super team fukkery. And injuries really fukked the Warriors last year. Injuries happen every day b.
The falloff was inevitable like all dynasties. They weren't immune.

Point is that it was 1-1 imo before KD got there. And injuries are a big reason why.

And as you alluded to, if Barnes played just average (not even good) over the back half of that series, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
And yet they still only lost that series by essentially one shot.
As I've said time and time again, run that series back, and the Warriors win it 8 out of 10 times.
