You see now this is reasonable. I can see 3 straight.

But ain't no way they're getting 4-5 straight.

2019-2020 will see a changing of the guard in the NBA. TWolves, Bucks, Sixers, and potentially the Lakers will emerge as contenders.
I think the Wizards can get there first, they need to somehow sign Paul George

What you mean nothing will stop that?

Only so many players can be overpaid with a hard cap in place

Meaning if you change to a hard cap, GMs aren't gonna suddenly become more competent. There's still gonna be dumb contracts handed out, there's still gonna be players making more than they're worth and those making less, nothing will stop that.

You proposed a $140 mil hard cap and brought up Ian Mahinmi's contract. The Wizards currently have a payroll of $102 million, even if you made Wall's deal $35 mil instead of the $15 it is now, that still leaves more than enough room for Grunfeld to offer him some bullshyt

You're assuming everything else stays the same

The 2nd, 3rd, 4th best players might make more

Reserves less

you essentially advocating under paying players I'm not a fan

You advocate underpaying the players that actually generate revenue

Lebron
Durant
Curry
Westbrook
Kyrie
Harden
Kawhi

These types are underpaid

Festus Ezeli
Luol deng

These types are overpaid

You sound like a communist :sas2:

I will say getting a hardcap will only make NBA owners richer. Who do you want getting the money, more black families or white owners? :yeshrug:

Or they might make around the same as what they make now.

I get that the true superstars like the LeBron's & Durant's are underpaid under the current system, but many teams in the league are unaffected by that

It kinda sucks knowing that Bron might go 3-7 in the finals because he ran up against a goat team:francis:. At least he's a guaranteed top 5 player, I guess....

One year at a time please. Wish those fellas nothing but health and success but injuries happen.

Get 1 ring first then we'll go from there.

The worst outcome for the league is if the Warriors sweep the Cavs in blowouts, it makes next season pretty much pointless if there isn't at least some struggle to win the chip. If they can destroy the 2nd best team in their first year, what happens when they have a full season behind them.

EVERY team in the league is affected by Durant level players being underpaid

Durant is a max player
Mike Conley is a max player

How can Memphis compete with golden state when they spend as much on Conley as the warriors do on Durant?

Now, Durant might get 50 mil while Conley gets 30-35, giving Memphis an extra 15-20 to spend on support

This also gives your sh*thole teams a realistic shot at your tier 2 or tier 3 stars nkw

And what type of player do you think they will spend that extra $15-20 million on?

I'm all for the max being eliminated, but I don't think a hard cap is necessary

They would have to tweak it in that a team could get 1 franchise max contract that doesn't affect the overall salary cap. Basically allow the market to dictate who the max franchise guys are.

That way a team like the Blazers would be able to keep their core, unless someone else out there was willing to give up a max contract slot to McCollum.
