I did, and this is the only album that he has that is a classic to me

Haven't listened to him by choice in decades tho
The double album and by a wide margin of any other jawns in his entire canon. It came on shuffle a month or so ago and I been listening again ever since. It's undeniable how great it is.

Some of the tracks were skippable - Freak Dat Body, Sadie etc…

I’ll give Homie Lover Friend a pass since it coined a phrase semi popular at the time
wow!!! We all know Kellz is a pos, but 12 play was a certified classic. To be a classic, every song does not have to be likeable. nation of Millions is considered one of the top 5 greatest albums of all time(and one of my personal favorites too), but even songs like "she watch channel zero" and "party for your right to fight" are skipped by most fans. I like those songs, but I can understand why most woulnd't. 12 Play was a very dope album. The remixes of songs on the albums such as "summer bunnies", "bump and grind", and " your body's calling" were great and a couple of them outshined the original tracks, but 12 Play is a certified classic no doubt about it.

When people were attempting to compare Rkelly to guys like Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye on this sub years ago, it was repeatedly pointed out that his best albums don’t hold a candle to their work

Thats only a valid question coming from the streaming/headphone era. 12 Play is an actual album…like supposed to be played from beginning to end in a sitting. Freak Dat Body has it’s place on an album like that, it was a pace setter.
