The Source Awards & Soul Train Awards were the only awards that were respected in hip-hop.
nobody had issue with that. Coolio was huge and respected for that song/video back then. + he was coo with Tupac and Death Row.

all of those videos were dope. Even "doin it" with the peepshow concept was dope for the song. CA Love is legendary as is Crossroads.

man please. how old are u? I was 18 in 1995, i remember this vividly. Gangsta's Paradise was the shyt back then, and nobody had a problem with it.

I was 12. Everybody loved Gangsta's Paradise and all that, but Pac was the one who really was the favorite. This was the "keep it real era." Coolio had gotten so big that he became "pop," even tho he kept it G on the album cuts like Excercise Yo Game.
Peep how Coolio winning it over Pac was mentioned and responded to in this classic interview that night. Pac was the "real" winner but in MTV's world Coolio had the smash song.
