So when we talk about toxic masculinity, what we’re talking about are the extreme pressures that some men feel that ultimately affect the way in which they behave that can be harmful to both themselves and society. It involves three key components: toughness, antifeminity, and power. Here, we can see all three components in action; his projection of insecurity onto a man who is just doing his job, his rejection of this man’s actions that he deems emasculating (which a man suffering from toxic masculinity would feel puts him on a level that is more equal to a woman because to be “less than” man is to be “more like” woman), and his inability to acknowledge/respect his wife’s/girlfriends autonomy. There are red flags all over the place!! Good lord!! I hope this woman is safe, and a really do hope she takes this situation into consideration when it comes to figuring out if she wants to remain in this relationship.
