Depends on your era, I am 34, so Dru Hill is iconic to me, classic middle school records, but do they compare sonically to Jodeci? I don't think so, but I didn't live Jodeci's music in real time.

Dru Hill from 1996-1999 was a great R&B run. Hook on that Wild Wild West song, What These bytches Want

In My Bed
We're Not Making Love Anymore
How Deep Is Your Love

Plus the album cuts, and Sisqo solo in 1999

If you weren't in middle school or high school when these songs were out esp. How Deep Is Your Love, than you may just not get how big they were.

Above the fray.
their 1st album was a classic.

cant say the same for a jodeci tape.
dru hill had legit vocal chops and made decent songs

just reminded me of jodeci for some reason

Jodeci best songs(solo,duo,or group),legacy, singing talent,production talent > Dru Hill

Classic Niccas
Because unsung is doing a episode and i thought they was a popular group :jbhmm:

they were huge.

unsung is basically for popular acts whose legacies aren't shoved down our throats.

they've been lowering the bar the past few years, but dru hill is a group whose definitely worthy of an episode. it'll prolly be the highest rated ep that the show has had in the past few years.

sonically?? no.

but they followed jodeci's template to the T.
sisqo = k-ci
jazz = jojo
nokio = devante
woody = dalvin.

yea the jodeci influence is clearly there.

i guess they got a pass cuz their debut trumped all of jodeci's albums.

At their height, they had like two successful albums. Then Sisqo went solo as a major success with one album. They came back together in 2002 with a new album and a new member, but it was nowhere near as eventful as the first two albums or Sisqo's solo. They even had a reality show leading up to their fourth album, which was independent.

In the grand scheme of things, they just weren't what Boyz II Men, Jodeci, 112, or Jagged Edge were in terms of groups. These groups had at least 3 hit albums while Dru Hill struggled after the second album. Even with Sisqo's massive first album, he wasn't able to sustain success as a solo artist.
