i dont have mine yet but im going back to get it. its worth but you need to be smart about.
this is what i wouldve done differently.... i started off at a technical college and transferred to a 4 year before finishing because 1.) i fell for everyone saying my two year degree wouldve been worthless, bachelors is where its at, and 2.) because my tech credits would not have transferred anywhere at the time so i was thinking i may as well not waste anymore time and just go straight for a bachelors.
huge mistake. my two year wouldve been worth more than a lot of 4 years. i shouldve finished there, but all is not lost since NOW 4 years are starting to offer a bachleors of applied arts and science degree where you can now use technical credits, and military experience toward a bachelors. so if the university lets me finally transfer those credits in ill only need 21 credits for these 7 courses specific to this major to graduate.
everyone should go to a two year first to save money, and just use as less loan money as possible. when you transfer to a 4 year, do NOT stay on campus and get their meal plan. find a roommate or two and get a cheap apartment nearby. just take out enough for tuition. cook your own meals. rent your textbooks instead of buying. stay focused. get in and get out ASAP. the longer you are there the more loans. its tempting to live the party lifestyle in college but those bytches arent going anywhere. if you balance everything out right youll have some time to have fun too, but make school the priority.
college is mostly a money grab, but its still good to have a degree since they can open a lot of doors thats why im going back to finish even though i have a decent paying job, but also since my job is offering tuition assistance so i dont really have to pay for this shyt. ive already got a ton of school loans but i think ill be able to knock them out when i finally settle down with my GF and move in together.
