You're correct that it's not the first instance at all. The difference though? Isaiah Washington brought up the situation himself on the red carpet which had the meeting asking questions about it. That's the only reason that people even knew that the situation had happened.

False.
The red carpet Golden Globes was in Jan 2007

Story broke in Oct 2006, and he actually issued a public apology in the same month

EXCLUSIVE: Isaiah Washington Apologizes

Despite that, the story didn't go away, and people on the set kept leaking details to reporters, so that by Jan 2007, it was still a story.

ABC literally gave him another job right after he got kicked off Grey's, but the show got cancelled earlier into the season. They even brought him back years later even with Dempsey still being on the show at the time. They never wanted to fire him in the first place and only did so because of him bringing up the situation when it was not being talked about. ABC tried everything in their power to help him out even in spite of the situation as they obviously liked him.

Both things can be true. Dempsey is an a-hole, which is why he ended up leaving the show and Washington screwed up by TR Knight catching a stray in his beef with Dempsey.

LGBTQ members of the cast, and in the entertainment press, and their "allies" kept the story alive. Also, punk ass Patrick Dempsey got thrown around during the confrontation and his ego was bruised. Hollywood bubble he lives in got him fukked up about how to speak to other men. He was a big star at the time, so he used his pull to keep heat on Washington to force him off the show, probably.

Washington, exercising poor judgement, and out of frustration, did himself no favors on the red carpet three months after the incident.

Which is exactly why I have said in this thread that Washington got himself fired on his own and let his beef with Dempsey cause TR Knight to catch a stray in the process :mjlol:

You can spin that shyt however you want, but you're going to face repercussions if you use a slur on a TV set or any other place of employment where everyone can hear you and rightfully so. Let's not sit here and pretend otherwise like Washington is the victim as it's certainly not the case.

Was waiting for you to walk back the "they only knew about it because of the red carpet comments", after that was proven false , but this is TLR.

Borstein used a slur on the set of MADtv, and wasn't fired. And I'm sure that many Black actors and crew members have heard ethnic slurs on open film/tv sets, with nobody getting fired. I think that played into Washington being confused that this story had legs THREE months after he publicly apologized. That's not spin. That's a workplace double standard that people can relate to on some level.

Using "bu..bu... what about what happened on other TV sets" is a lame cop out kiddie excuse as you're responsible for your own actions when it's all said and done.

Personal accountability. That's how it works. He obviously struggles with that as years later, he's came out and said that he didn't actually say it how it was reported when everybody literally knows exactly what he said.
