What You Will Never Be.
IDGAF I will shotgun a can of beer and do a shot of jager to this song at a party if this is playing and proceed to act like an ass doing "sweet" air guitar solos.

:salute:This the muthafukka to party with :ohlawd:

:salute:to Jager, Mexicans charged me for that shot at the spot, I was mad as a muthafukka. Even my ese homie who worked there said that was bullshyt.

He was a second tier star who could hold the crowd's attention and command an audience but management never gave him the chance to get to the main event level. And he could have got there if they gave him the chance too.

In his book he says eric offered him 700,000 to stay and vince offered only 300,000(with a system to make more thou)

Shows you how shytty wcw was for him to turn that kinda money down

From memory (And as someone who LOVED him in WCW and who still feels that the Lion Tamer is the GOAT submission)...he was a cruiseweight....you could argue that, by definition, all those cats were midcard just based on how WCW divided the roster.

I remember being weirded out as a kid when he went to WWF and started being a heavyweight player, as a young WCW stan who didn't switch until later, it was weird seeing the "vanilla midgets" fighting for the heavyweight title. Obviously I ended up getting used to it but at first it was :comeon:

Don't get me wrong, I loved the cruiserweight division. If WWE added that shyt tomorrow I would :banderas:

Also, as I've seen stated on here before (Specifically by @ChemicalBk here : http://www.thecoli.com/posts/12938500/), let's not act like the WCW roster wasn't DEEP as fukk. Everyone couldn't have the title...Hulk Hogan, Goldberg, Sting, Nash, DDP, Luger, Bret Hart, Raven, Booket T, Ric Flair, Macho Man, Nash, Hall, Jericho..etc etc etc. I've read before that he felt he was held back and in retrospect (Given that he truly did become a star) maybe he was, but I don't disagree with his place on the card at the time. He had a fanbase, got tv time, people loved him...hard to justify a place higher on the card when there are so many active stars though.

Once again though, don't get me wrong, I was a fan and dude retroactively proved his worth.

The gimmick of him beating other wrestlers and taking their personal items was some of the funniest shyt ever. Pepe, unmasking the luchadores...just grade a fukkery. I forget what belt it was for but they had a huge tournament and Jericho did pretty good from what I remember. It was either the TV or cruiserweight title.

more like B- level star.

gotta realize, wcw had the goat roster and jericho was still kinda on the comeup.

the wwf's roster was chitty in comparison, so it was no thing for him to come in and feud with the rock immediately. the rock's other feud at the time was with mr ass. let that one sink in for a minute.

funny thing is, people criticize wcw for not pushing jericho to the moon, but the wwf had an inferior roster and they still kept jericho in mid-card hell for a long time. but nobody ever bothers to speak on that.
it wasn't that they had inferior roster..the WWF was trying make that "I'm the Game" stuff happen at the time.

Uncertain grounds
Jericho was a star. Ppl can say "oh midcard, midcard" but thats how it was structured for the cruisers. they put on great matches and had some good storyline development at times as well. he had classic feuds and was mega over. star.

roster was light in the ass breh.

thats why most of the wwf's ppvs from that era are unwatchable.

the roster didnt get ill until 2000. before that, it was more character-driven & dependant on the booking. they can downplay russo all they want, but he made that engine go.

Nah..the booking was just based on weird finishes to dice it up and make sure certain guys kept going. Everyone with legit except Cripple H were shining no matter how the matches and PPVs were booked.

nah. the booking was great from top to bottom. EVERYBODY stayed with some chit going on.

the wrestling as a whole was piss-poor. thats why they stayed getting exposed on ppv and the lesser shows.

goat seniors tour
shyt booking, shyt heat, shyt crowds, shyt fed

:mjlol:

youre just looking up random clips on youtube/the network 15-20 years later. youre posting chit from when wcw had started getting corny.

wcw crowds used to chit on the wwf's.

lol @ seniors tour. wrestlers are only "old" when theyre not signed to the wwf.

I watched WCW mainly for Jericho. His antics against the other cruiserweights were :mjlol::mjlol:

The man of a 1004 holds. :mjlol: Dean Malenko used to be :mjcry:

He thoroughly sonned luchadores on a daily basis. :mjlol:

They didn't get exposed because they blew away every other company Buyrate wise that year. The internet fans decided years later that the wrestling wasn't up to par and tried to put over the 2002-2003 era as something worthwhile except ratings and buyrates didn't match that perception. It never did. People act like Kurt Angle is some ULTRA GREAT Benoit-level worker but he can't fill up an arena to save his life.

:duck:

it has nothing to do with buyrates. the wwf was ALWAYS known for having the weakest in-ring product. even back in the '80s. probably way before then too. just like theyre known to have the weakest matches in present time.

they didnt start getting busy til 2000. most of those '98-99 ppvs were amongst the worst ppvs ive ever seen. and that says alot cuz ive seen hundreds. that was their worst period.

stop trying to act like they were ever a workrate company. they always specialized in sports entertainment. thats where the money is.

They were "KNOWN"? That's revisionist history. They were pumping out big time PPVs and breaking records. NOBODY on here brings up WCW PPVs from 1999...they sort of talk about what Eddie, Rey, and the crusierweights do but everyone here mostly harps on old Shawn Michaels matches and acts like WCW never existed before the Nwo angle. Dudes on here acting like Punk was as big as Goldberg or some shyt..so it's all revisionist when it's convenient..the norm.

Yeah 2000 flowed perfectly when you go back and think about it..at the time? No one was bytching and whining and the question was more about how would Cripple H fit in once Austin and Taker came back.
