I would say what Tobe did was 5 times worse

He did, nobody liked Kobe for a long time. People continuously said "He can't win without Shaq."
Once he started back winning he gained his respect back

Yeah it was bad, but he used it as fuel...

Kobe was hated plenty. I remember it like it was yesterday. He was ballin' out until they got to the Finals where he absolutely choked, got locked up, whatever you want to call it.

It took him a few more years to shed that label. It wasn't until he got back to the finals and then won that all was truly forgotten.

At least, that's my recollection.
