At that time in the 80s, Bird was perceived how people crowned Jordan in the 90s, and Lebron now. Bird was considered the greatest player ever in the 80's(84/85-88), some of it was race, but Bird was really that good. He was getting Lebron stats without dominating the ball as much, and he was a hell of shooter. I consider Magic and Bird as equal as can be, like another poster said, it really comes down to who you prefer more, you can make argument for either.
