The difference between Martin, Eddie Murphy, etc is they're actual comedians and them in drag was to exaggerate their characters. Tyler Perry isn't a comedian but a great opportunist and I commend him for it. Perry's subject matter is cliche whereas Martin's was trendsetting and daring in that era. The writing on Perry's movies is horrible.

Simply the nature of his comedy and the dynamics of all the characters on Martin. What was or is like Martin before and after its run? None.

I, personally, do not like Perry's stuff because the writing and direction is subpar. Perry had his moments like in A Family That Preys and Why Did I Get Married? Common denominator? No Madea.
