Its a draw. Mike's time was more ruthless + people around him really didn't love him and he ended up treating people like pieces on a chess board as a result. Even Johnny Fontane when signing his contract was on that "I'd do anything for my Godfather." Instead of just accepting the contract that Mike had laid out for him. Appolonia's death + people close to him constantly slighting him made him even more robotic and devoid of emotion and love.

Vito was always surrounded by people who loved him and were loyal just because. Michael was surrounded by snakes.
