How is it a setup to show your interview? :dahell:

And how do you know that it was a cac? Jamie Foxx produced it and a black middle he aged woman named Dawn Porter directed it.

Trish D Chetty and Ged Doherty began developing a film focused on Luther Vandross in 2018 through Raindog Films.

they hired Dawn Porter's production company and gave Datari Turner and Jamie Foxx EP to help finance the project and secure a distributor (like CNN or HBO).

Luther was a good one, didnt rub that gay lifestyle in people's faces and force them to accept it..this is why everyone knows Breh is gay but has maintained his enormous respect.
Naw he was just old skool and most likely raised in the church where the gays had to keep their manly desires from the public :dame:

Everybody knows Luther was a closet gay man.

That doesn’t take anything away from his talent or the great music he left the world with.

Unfortunately for him, in his heyday that lifestyle was not as socially acceptable to the public; especially, Black America. Elton John was probably one of the few from that era that has always openly lived in that truth, but Elton caters to a much different audience than Luther did.

Had Luther come along 30 years later in the more current day and age no one would have even cared hence guys like Frank Ocean and Sam Smith.

I don’t know why you posted that.

The director is the one that makes direction decisions, the writer the one that writes and producers do various admin stuff mostly. You posted some paper pushing execs whose job it was to secure rights, partners, financing, and finally someone to make the thing.

It’s like saying the CEO of Sony Pictures or whatever shot the Godfather.

Producers make final decisions on edits all the time. Harvey Weinstein famously did this.

So you have a CAC editor, CAC producers and EPs and a CAC Executive VP at CNN.

But you want to villainize an 80 year old black woman for speaking on her gay black best friend. Got it

No. If anything it was good.
It’s a shame that breh wasn’t able to live his true self. Hopefully others to follow will know that they can.

I listen to Secret Love in sadness cause I think in his heart he was commenting on his own relationship(s).

Eh. Patti LaBelle already outed Luther years ago. With that said Patti was very close with Luther and his family and I don't think it's the biggest deal anymore. Luther hid his sexuality as to not upset his fanbase or his family maybe he would have came out had he lived, maybe not. But I don't think his legacy is hurt at all by this he is still one of GOATs and I don't think Patti deserves the heat she is getting.

I thought we knew he was gay before he died
Different era. Those nikkas in the closet felt obligated to it as they felt the repercussions would be massive. That's not the case in 2025 but it was in 2002 much less even than in the 80s and 90s.

I still remember me and my nikkas opening saying fa... back then like it wasn't nothing. That gay shyt wasn't acceptable. Even non gay nikkas acting gay like Dennis Rodman and Goldust was shunned

Harvey Weinstein was notorious not doing it is my impression?

He let Tarantino and those guys do whatever they wanted :dahell:

And again 3/5 producers are black, writer black and director black. But these two British finance/music people with no film experiences are the ones you wanna blame? I’ll blame them all or none. But if anyone the director. Or Patti herself for talking about that man’s private life on a cac show. It wouldn’t be there if she didn’t say it. It’s like Donald Trump blaming a director for him putting clips of him talking his regular shyt on TV. :mindblown:

But of course, as usual self-hating cats wanna reduce big black Hollywood people, big black directors, Jon Platt one of the biggest in m entertainment, to merely white people’s slaves.

And then you also assume that the person at CNN is not a black person, and you also don’t mention that Oprah’s network is one of the distributors along with CNN and Max.

Sounds like self-hate :yeshrug:

Your understanding is flawed. He did it on snow piercer and king's speech, for example. fiege does it all the time on marvel films. producers often do make decisions on final cuts and edits.

No film experience? both are industry veterans.

refer to my other posts in this thread about Patti's appearance on that show. Interesting that you refer to Trump. as a producer he literally had final say on how he was portrayed on The Apprentice for over a decade.

if that's what your takeaway is, you are either not black or are projecting. i won't blame an 80 year old black woman for speaking candidly on her gay black best friend. i WILL blame CACs for portraying her in a negative light and using out of context clips to do so.
if you think that's self-hatred, there's no one upstairs in your house.

And then you also assume that the person at CNN is not a black person, and you also don’t mention that Oprah’s network is one of the distributors along with CNN and Max.

because it isn't. the executive that picked this up at CNN is a white woman named Amy

Oprah's network is also owned by Warner Bros, the same company that owns CNN. She has a 5% stake in her own company. Let me know when owning 5% of something gives you full power over 95% of the rest

you can keep going breh, but i will keep reiterating that CACs are to blame for this, not fukking Patti Labelle.
