I thought the weak East was "JV"...why consider their accomplishments and numbers equal?Didnt say Lee was better than pau.....but in 2010 it was comparable statistically on offense. Who says Kobe and PJ could'nt have made David Lee work next to LO, Bynum, Arest...
David Lee 2009-2010: 20 ppg, 12 rpg, 3 apg, 1spg, 54% shooting, 81 games, Eastern Conf All Star
Pau Gasol 2009-2010: 18ppg, 11 rpg, 3 apg, 1.5 bpg, 53% shooting, 65 games, West Conf All Star
I don’t think you understand how the triangle works. It limits guys that are perimeter players and asks them to tone down their game for the system.Weird how nikkas like to bring up how the triangle limited Kobe’s stats but use those same numbers to diminish Pau’s importance to that game.
Weird how the weak East lets you build up stats and the strong west is much harder to put up numbers when dudes comparing Pau and Bosh.
I thought the weak East was "JV"...why consider their accomplishments and numbers equal?
Randolph who keeps getting brought up wasn't better either. Or Amar'e. Or Bosh. Rookie Rose wasn't either, sophomore is arguable.
That's the narrative y'all run with in numerous other threads.I didnt say anything about East being JV in this thread.
Zach Randolph took Memphis farther than Pau ever did. Pau could've at least won a game in 12 tries.
Before Pau got to the LAkers no one had him above Amare or Bosh. Y'all disingenuous with that shyt.
Also, when I mentioned Rose I had 2010 in mind. Obviously rookie rose wasn't better. Soph Rose already dropping 20ppg tho at 21.....he was a monster already
I like how Pau was regarded as a big loser and a fraud prior to joining Kobe and then he joins Kobe and all of a sudden he was the main piece
like someone said, he couldn't even win a playoff game prior to Kobe saving his career
That's the narrative y'all run with in numerous other threads.
Zach Randolph literally spent his entire Memphis career next to Marc who is on the same level as Pau and Mike Conley, and another 3-4 years with Rudy Gay. You're acting like he took the same team and won playoff series.
What aspects of the game were Amare and Bosh better at? They were more athletic which made them better slashers/finishers. What else?
How many series did the Kobe led lakers when b4 pau showed up
We said 09-10. But that aside, Bosh was the better overall player pretty since his 3rd year. Gasol was an elite passer and had great hands. He was a highly skilled player. Heck, I'd argue that he might have had the most versatile skillset of any big outside of Amar'e at one point, and that still doesn't not make you a better player than others who lack your skill set if they are more effective and impactful. Your highly overrating his defense too. The combined length of the Lakers is what gave teams trouble.Bosh in Toronto was not a better defender than Gasol on the Lakers lol. Bosh at his best was a good P&R defender, Pau was always the better rim protector. He was an elite deterrent at the rim and drew charges. Let's not act like Bosh was a good low post defender either. And I would say Pau more than a bit better as a playmaker he was often called the best passing big in basketball in those days.
negged. Sick of the Bosh disrespect08-10 Pau was better then amare and bosh. Pau was leading his team as the first option and main scoring threat to the offs out west consistently
You're doing exactly what I thought. You can't tell me what they're better at. Amare played with Nash in one of the greatest offensive systems of all-time and Bosh missed the playoffs 5 times of out 7 in a weaker conference. You keep using team accomplishments to make someone better instead of actually telling why that one player is better than the next. Both Bosh and Amare put up better offensive stats as #1 options than Pau, they actually won playoff games instead of getting swept 3 times in a row, and defensively Pau is not head and shoulders above them.....he got better once he got to the Lakers and was next to LO, Bynum, Pau. PJ's staff in general led good defenses.
You're right Zach had a better cast in Mem than Pau. But tell me this....does Pau lead MEM to an upset over #1 seeded Spurs like Zach did?
But how was he more impactful and effective? We said 09-10. But that aside, Bosh was the better overall player pretty since his 3rd year. Gasol was an elite passer and had great hands. This nikka @10bandz is being wild disingenous lol. Those Memphis teams that Pau played on were good primarily off their defense which Pau was down low for. You're doing exactly what I thought. You can't tell me what they're better at. Amare played with Nash in one of the greatest offensive systems of all-time and Bosh missed the playoffs 5 times of out 7 in a weaker conference. If Pau has a player like his brother and Conley, possibly.
MIAMI -- Chris Bosh wants to get the record straight.
He wants you to know the scoring column does not define him as a player. As everyone rushes to praise his point totals in this series, Bosh wants you to understand the real reason he came to the Miami Heat and why they are where they are.
It has nothing to do with scoring, or the 34 points that he put up in Game 3.
For Bosh and the Miami organization, it’s all about defense.
By joining the Heat, Bosh wanted to finally shed the label that he was limited as a one-way player. That he couldn’t play defense. That he didn’t play winning basketball. That he compiled empty stats on a losing team. That he belonged to the same genus as fellow 2010 free agents Carlos Boozer and Amare Stoudemire -- power forwards who can score, but have trouble stopping their opponents from scoring.
Bosh wanted to shed all that stigma, separate himself and prove that he wasn’t just a one-trick pony.
"At first, they said I couldn’t fit here because I can’t play defense," Bosh said at Monday’s practice. "I have to play defense, for one, if we want win a championship, and two, if I want to play on this team, I’m going to have to D up. It’s all about taking the challenge and just doing it."
