When it comes to leopardcon reigns, 2 Chainz got that on lock. Ross never really had a reign. He and his label had a strong "buzz" from the spring to the end of Fall. BMF was killing it, there were a couple singles from the Self Made album getting spins and Aston Martin Music kept the buzz going. But dude was never "on top", just very visible. Wale made some noise that winter. And of course Meek did historic numbers:wow:

Ross had a reign like Jay had a reign. Every year except 2009 and 2013, there was always one or two rappers bigger than Jay. Jay, however, still managed to keep himself within the Top 2-5 for over a decade. I'm not saying that Rick Ross was ever anywhere near as big as Jay Z at any point in time, I'm saying that he had a reign in spite of not being #1 or even #2 biggest rappers.

From May 2010 until July 2012, Ross was killing it:

-May 2010 (specifically Memorial Day when the Albert Anastacia tape dropped): "BMF" and "MC Hammer" were official street anthems that took over the streets. Lex Luger becomes one of the most sought after producers as a result.

-July 2010: Teflon Don drops containing "Aston Martin Music" which along w/ "BMF" and "MC Hammer" propels Rick Ross past Gold.

-December 31, 2010: Ashes To Ashes drops to huge buzz with "9 Piece" eventually ending up on the charts

-March 2011: Lil' Wayne remixes Ross's "I'm A Star" for "John" and features Ross on it.

- May 2011: The first Self Made drops and the Ross assisted singles "That Way" and "I'm A Boss" give buzz to Wale and Meek Mill. "Tupac Back" also introduces Mike Will Made It to the mainstream

-June 2011: Ross appears on the Summer anthem "I'm On One"

-November 2011: Wale releases Ambition on Ross's MMG and almost goes Gold. Ross appears on Drake's Take Care

- February 2012: Ross releases Rich Forever which contained "Stay Schemin", "Triple Beam Dreams", and the title track

- May/June 2012: Ross appears on the cover of Rollingstone
