Vegeta is one of the GOATS but all his Saiyan talk was low key hyping himself up. Obviously he softened up but he was a survival of the fittest type. Probably thought if you weren’t strong enough to survive there was no point in bringing them back. And Goku was a goof and didn’t follow the saiyan code even if he was powerful and loved fighting. He probably thought he was the only true saiyan.

I thought the dragon balls couldn't resurrect anyone who's been dead longer than a year.
In retrospect, it was kind of suspect that Vegeta killed Nappa (one of his own people) but still went on about Saiyan Pride after that. Vegeta is still great in the Saiyan/Namek storylines.

I think Shenron said something like the one year limit only applies if you want to bring back a large amount of people at once. For example, all the Nameks killed by Frieza's people or all the people killed by Vegeta and Nappa on earth (and on their way to earth). I think a single person (or a smaller group) can be brought back no matter how much time has passed.
