i honestly thought he was trash in TNA (Jay Lethal too other than his Flair/Mach impressions) and was confused when WWE signed him....he debuted and further proved to me that he was trash...but then he linked up with these other 2 guys on the roster and history was made

My boy was a huge Consequences Creed fan, but I couldn't see the appeal from the little of TNA I watched then.

He's a charismatic guy but largely a poor in-ring performer. He could never really sustain whatever momentum he got going for him in TNA. He did a little NJPW between TNA and WWE and well, was terrible there. Working in small spots but mostly being New Day's manager is a sweet spot for him. When New Day is done he'd be best in a managerial role going forward.
