So you just gonna dismiss Bellotti like that fam??
Bellotti was a very good coach. One the program needed to be where it is at. What Bellotti lacked was the ability to take the team beyond being the spunky new program with flash. Chip had the ability to make the program a legit national championship contender on a yearly basis.
Chip also had an innate ability to run the program with discipline, yet give the players a lot of freedom. Bellotti's teams were very undisciplined and it was getting away from him at the end.

Chip's weakness was that he couldn't relate to players on a one on one level. Players loved him because he put them in positions to succeed and make them look good, but as a mentor many felt he left them hanging.

I like a lot of things about Helfrich, he seems to genuinely care about his players, goes after kids who are quality people, and when relationship don't work out they leave on better terms than with Chip.

But Helfrich's teams lack discipline and play beneath their talent level. Chip could coach them up and play above their talent level. To me Helfrich is a good coach who can create a decent team. Chip was the guy who could make a great team.

Future problem is...Personally I don't think Oregon is quite as nationally desirable a position as many make it out to be...one of the key reasons (besides recruiting location) is the fact that despite having the Phil Knight budget for facilities and uniforms, the budget for coaches salaries is shockingly low.

Washington is back. Not a Huskies fan, but it is good to see them back where they belong. Seattle is an attractive city, so I think Peterson will start to pull more 4 and 5 star recruits.
