I was waiting for you to come in this thread lol you got all the info

but speaking on the highlighted part...how did this Anthony Gonzalez dude help out the clipse?

because its interesting to me how allot of these rappers come in the game being sponsored by drug dealers

young jeezy - big meech
lupe fiasco - his manager was one of the biggest drug dealers in chicago
death row - harry o

and there's probably some more that I dont know about

Rappers and Dope Dealers have a kindred relationship that dates back to the inception of the first rap records

this make sense considering rap is a genre that has always struggled to gain corpprate acceptance

so that street money has always been a dependable factor in the financing of upstart labels..management...and show promotion

where else can u get the funding.... :manny:

Its not like u can walk into a bank and secure a loan for your rap label :russ:

Anf its been like that for years ....long before the trap music / gangsta rap era

although hip hop purists love to romanticize the golden era

their is a dark side ....Sugarhill Records was started on a line credit given to the Robinson family by Morris Levy the mafioso affiliate. who maintained a sizeable share in the Sugarhill Brand while distrubuting Heroin in the jersey/philly area

Cant forget the DISCO FEVER club in uptown NYC which was patronized by Fat Cat..Supreme ..and a host of other "hustlers"

Also not too mention labels such as COLD CHILLIN RECORDS home of the legendary Juice Crew founded by Tyrone "Fly Ty" Williams spoke fondly of his relatonship with Queens drug lord Lance Furtado

Even righteous minds go thru it

RAKIM. had mutual relationships with KILLER BEN outta Brooklyn and Eshaw down in Georgia....

and lets not forget Russell Simmons ...Easy E...and Laurence Goodman aka LG all have earned stripes in that game

There's not a drug dealer alive that made millions of dollars and decided to become a rapper :duck:

Wanting to be seen in music videos and at the clubs or even having a record label is what some big time dealers might do. But signing up to personally snitch on yourself for a 60 minute LP :duck:

These rappers touched maybe half a brick once in their 20s and get on rap songs like they were Carlos Lehder :duck:

And that's why I've never fukked with them...and I was born in Portsmouth and my family is from that area.
I was born and raised in Portsmouth. Anyway, to answer the question, yes, they did sell coke. They have deep familial connections to the drug game. But they weren't these kingpins that were "touching the hands of the growers" and all that shyt they talked. They were just two of far too many coke dealers in the Tidewater/Hampton Roads area in the 90's who just exaggerate how big they were just like a bunch of other rappers.

And they were just some regular nikkas from Kempsville, VA Beach from what I hear, which isn't known as a tough area at all. All the notorious hoods in the 757 are in Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Newport News for the most part. So they weren't some super thug tough guys by any means, but like I said, they were definitely connected.

A lot of people in area don't fukk with them because they feel they don't really rep the streets of the 757 and they shot the Grindin video in Tidewater Park projects, where they are not from and probably couldn't walk around in without cameras and security. I fukk with them though. They made hot music and they helped put the 757 on :manny:

the reason they were able to get out of bein indicted is because their paper trail is traceable to their actual deals with record companies/sales of records. people who get indicted are usually indicted because they have the money but no feasable means of attaining income that would disguise their drug money as income. when they get audited by the Feds, there's a HUGE discrepancy if they are just simple drug dealers without jobs that actually rake in big money.

It's lame nikkas on the corners too tho. In EVERY hood. nikkas wit no "style" sense of "swag" or whatever you nikkas call it, or who don't fit the typical "street nikka" mold that's stereotyped...That means he's lying about his past/drug history? Or are you just jaded after hearing so many nikkas lie to you in records and being turned off by his image/style that you automatically assume he's sellin wolf tickets?

We as fans got to be more objective...Even nikkas I hate to hear rap, I'll admit it's a few of them I believe were about that life...Even if they seem soft/corny to me. shyt, one of the most notorious kingpin nikkas I know, stands at about 5'3, skinny as fukk...used to wear tall ass white/pink tees & sneakers, and had a major East Coast city on SMASH in the early - mid 2000's. Corny voice and everything. So let's be real.
And we as street nikkas...the FEW on this site :mjpls: gotta stop this "there's only one type of street nikka" bullshyt...:patrice:
