I've noticed this. People like Jimmy Johnson say he don't even belong in the league. The announcers during the Ravens game this week were shytting on Kaep the entire time despite him going for 340 yards, 2TDs and 0 int. I, along with most rational niner fans, are up front about Kaep. I don't think he's progressed nearly enough as he should have since the '12 season. He has some glaring holes in his game. He's probably not worth the money right now (though his contract isn't nearly as bad as it seems). Some of this is his fault no doubt. But take last season for example the team was in complete disarray and Harbaugh couldn't wait to leave. That's going to hinder development as well.
But let's look at the resume real quick.
2012: He replaces Alex Smith. He's 10-3 TD-INT ratio. He leads the league in yards per attempt. 98.3 QB rating. 5 rushing TDs. In the playoffs against GB he throws for 263 2-1 and rushes for 181 yards 2 TDs. Against the Falcons he leads them back from 17 down. In the Super Bowl he throws for 302 2-1 and rushes for a TD. Has a chance to win at the end. Crabtree can't make the play
2013: 21-8 TD-INT and 500 yards rushing 4 TDs. 91.6 QB rating. In the playoffs he doesn't play well in the NFC title game 1 TD and 2 INT but he rushes for 130 yards and gives them a chance to win. Crabtree can't make the play
2014: This is his "bad year" but even then his QB rating is 86.4 (not atrocious) and 19 TDs to 10 INT. For whatever the reason they decide he shouldn't be using his legs and only has one TD rushing. Crabtree does nothing all year
Now to this year. All of a sudden "he shouldn't be in the league" and "he's complete trash".. So where did it stem from??
Game log:
Week 1: 165 yards. Hyde has a huge game rushing against the Vikings. They win. Kaep isn't asked to do anything.
Week 2: 335 yards 2 TD - 0 INT. 50 yards rushing.
Week 3: 0 TD and 4 INT. "He should be out of the league" talk starts. Terrible game, no way to defend it.
Week 4: 0 TD and 1 INT. These talks continue. Again he didn't play well at all.
Week 5: 262 yards 2 TD - 0 INT.
Week 6: 340 yards 2 TD - 0 INT.
I'm not even a huge Kaep defender on here but you look at how Kirk Cousins is treated and others by their coaches and the media and they don't have NEARLY the resume as a QB that Kaep does.
